Made from nickel silver.
Whistle in working condition.
The Russian officers 'whistles had the same elongated shape; on the  Sam Browne belt there was a special pocket.
Usually made of  brass or nickel silver.
Whistle commands:
------- one very long whistle - ALARM!
- - - three long whistles - COLLECT!
- one long whistle - MOVE OUT! or ATTACK!
- - two long whistles (repeats after a pause) - LET'S RETREAT!
- * one long and one short whistle - PULL UP RIGHT FLANGE!
* - one short and one long whistle - RAISE LEFT FLANGE!
* * - two short and one long whistle MOVE LEFT!
- * * one long and two short whistles - MOVE RIGHT!
* * * * four short whistles - regrouping!
- * - one long, then short, then again long whistles - GATHER AT THE COMMANDER!
