This is a
very rare
thin paper
Virginia State Currency note (cat: VA-204a) dated March 1, 1781.  The note value is , the equivalent of 15
£
at the time.
This piece is extremely rare due to the fact that it was printed on very thin paper, similar to what we would call onion paper today.  The fact that such a fragile note has survived for 240 years it amazing.  Moreover, this piece is in very nice condition considering.

This piece is in in circulated condition.  Printing is clear and legible.  Paper has some wrinkles.  Signatures are bold.  There are some areas where the paper has thinned to the point where light will come through.  Also there are a few areas where small holes have developed in the paper.
A great piece for the serious colonial currency collector.
Be sure to review the pictures so that you can determine the grade for yourself.
Colonial currency sometimes have mica flakes embedded them when the paper was made as a security device to prevent counterfeiting.  These sometimes produce light spots in the photograph.  They are not holes, just light reflecting off of the mica.  Another security feature sometimes found embedded in the paper are colored silk threads, typically blue or red.  This was a serious concern of the colonials as some notes will have printed on them "To counterfeit is death".
