Very Choice
Gem New March 25, 1776 "ONE SHILLING" New Jersey Colonial Currency Note - plate A.
​Very Conservatively graded & certified by PCGS as CU65 PPQ (Premium Paper Quality) with the look of perfection.
Bold 5-digit serial number 40812 in brown ink, along with the equally bold signatures of Robert Smith, Jonathan Johnston, and John Smyth.
Very choice with extra large borders and this note is darkly inked. No problems of any kind, and there is just one tiny pin hole.
The thick ragpaper itself is
watermarked "NEW JERSEY"
when held upto a light source (see last photo).
Newman lists a price of ,000 for an example in Gem condition on page 261.
This is an authentic & historical item that was printed and issued in our nations birthyear of 1776 during the Revolutionary War (1775-83), and just a couple months before the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July.
