    The year of 1779 was significant as the Americans were engaged in the struggle for their Independence, aided by France. Benjamin Franklin was appointed minister in that year too, this turned out to be the most successful help to the fledgling nation. Here is a French newspaper dated in 1779 - reporting on various aspects of the life of the times including what King Louis was up to ( decrees passed etc. ), music, literature, financial data etc. Completely in French, all in very fine condition measuring approximately ( open ) 14 x 9 inches ( 35 x 23 mm ).
