February 17, 1776 "TWO DOLLARS" Continental Colonial Currency Note.
Conservatively graded & certified by PCGS as VF35, with the look of a higher grade. There are no problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes.
Great eye-appeal for the grade with colorful serial number and signatures. Darkly inked on both sides including the "
nature print of three leaves, a Rasberry leaf and two Filberts (hazelnut)
" on the back side.
Bold 6-digit serial number 120270 in dark red ink, along with the equally bold signatures of William Coats and John Williams.
John Williams,
was a Colonel in the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolutionary War, a signer of the United States' Articles of Confederation, a member of the Continental Congress in 1778 and 1779, and one of the founders of the University of North Carolina.
This is an authentic & historical item that was printed and issued in our nation's birth year of 1776 during the Revolutionary War (1775-83), just a couple months before the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July, 1776.
