Description
Very Choice & Extremely Popular
February 17, 1776 "TWO THIRDS of a Dollar" Continental Colonial Fractional Currency Note. Plate A.
Conservatively graded & certified by Legacy (the successor to PCGS Currency) as AU55 PPQ (Premium Paper Quality), with excellent eye-appeal. There are no problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes.
Colorful serial number and signature. Darkly inked on both sides including the Benjamin Franklin designed vignettes such as: on the front side, a "sundial" with "FUGIO (time flies)" printed to the side of the sundial with the words "MIND YOUR BUSINESS" printed below. On the back, a "linked chain of Colonial Colonies" with "AMERICAN CONGRESS" and "WE ARE ONE" printed in the center.
Bold 6-digit serial number 418477 in dark red ink, along with the equally bold signature of William Spear (also in red).
This is an authentic & historical item that was printed in our nation's birth year of 1776 and issued during the Revolutionary War (1775-83), just a few days after the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776.
