    Description
Very Choice, Rare, & Extremely Popular
February 17, 1776 "ONE SIXTH OF A DOLLAR" Continental Colonial Fractional Currency Note. Plate C.
The /6 is the lowest denomination of the Fractional Notes, and is the most scarce when found in high grades, and as a result, they command the highest catalog values of any of these interesting Continental Notes.
Conservatively graded and certified by PMG as AU55, and well-deserving of this lofty grade. No problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes either.
Excellent eye-appeal and darkly inked on both sides
    including the
Benjamin Franklin designed vignettes such as: on the front side, a "sundial" with "FUGIO (time flies)" printed to the side of the sundial with the words "MIND YOUR BUSINESS" printed below. On the back, a "linked chain of Colonial Colonies" with "AMERICAN CONGRESS" and "WE ARE ONE" printed in the center.
Both the serial number and signature are written in very light red ink. The serial number looks like it might be 457716, while the signature may be that of Samuel Massey. Though I could be mistaken on either, or both accounts.
This is an authentic & historical item that was printed in our nation's birth year of 1776 and issued during the Revolutionary War (1775-83), just a few days after the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1776.
