Three Pence Pennsylvania Colonial Note, which is the lowest of 13 different denominations of the March 10, 1769 “Bettering House Money” issue. These notes were authorized by the act of February 18, 1769 for the relief and employment of the poor in Philadelphia. The Friedberg Catalog number for this note is:
PA-134
This note carries the hand written serial number 15499, Plate A of 30,000 printed, and is signed by Jacob Lewis. This small format note was typeset
within ornaments with the Penn Family arms at the lower right.
This 248 year old note was well used having ratty margins all around and a 3/16 of an inch split at the centerfold of the left margin. The lower right corner is missing, but most of the Penn Family Arms vignette remains. I would grade this note as a Very Good -.
Please look at the scans carefully and judge the grade and quality of this note for yourself.
