sent from London, England to the University of Alabama in the U.S.A.
It is postmarked with two cancellations clearly reading October 31, 1921 (Registered) and another reading November 14, 1921 (University, Alabama).  The envelope is preprinted as postal stationery in the amount of 3 pence for registration and 2 pence for postage, and it also has three 1.5 pence stamps affixed to it
.  The cover also has a hand-written notation from the sender that it contains "Postage Stamps only -- not subject to 'Duty,'" but it is
nonetheless
hand-stamped with "Supposed liable to customs duty."  It is in good overall condition, although it has some crinkles and rough/mildly soiled edges.  It is a Very Fine piece ready to enhance any collection of British postal history or registered mail covers.
