    Description

1786 Rhode Island Colonial Currency - this is an ex Eric P. Newman piece.  The note is a Six Pence issue and has the unheard of grade of 66 PPQ - the note has been professionally graded by PCGS.  This is an extraordinary highly sought after historically significant colonial note.
To illustrate, upon the issuance of this note, the legal tender provision was to be enforced summarily without the benefit of a jury trial.  In a highly significant law case, Trevett vs. Weeden, the law denying trial by jury was was declared invalid and thus established the common law principle of trial by jury as a fundamental right of the people of the newly created United States.
