Anderson Type VT 1 (R8 , p.166), but signature not listed. Partly printed form, in the written amount of
Thirty Pounds Sixteen Shillings Zero Pence .

    I.(ra) Allen
as Treasurer (of the State). Printed on laid paper. 160mm by 65mm. Uniface, printed in black and white. At the left, stylized indent with reverse image " Vermont " in cursive. The other three borders are block cuts with floral curve pattern. The text is in eight lines with hashed spaces for issuee and written denomination. At the lower left is the denomination written in numerals. Fully named and issued to John French .
Ira Allen , brother of Vermont patriot Ethan Allen , was the first Treasurer of the State. Strongly printed from an earlier plate state (issued date bears that out) and wide margined. Pen canceled 'X's on the face do not affect the very bold and well executed signature of Ira Allen .
