Royal Arms of Pennsylvania at right, with motto "Mercy and Justice". Words "FIVE SHILLINGS" on pillars and pediment borders at top, bottom and right. (5 Shillings = 1 Crown; 20 Shillings (4 Crowns) = 1 Pound Sterling).
Back shows skeletonized leaves (anti counterfeiting device). FIVE SHILLINGS at top. Motto "To Counterfeit is DEATH" below leaves. PRINTED BY HALL and SELLERS, 1775. at bottom.
Serial # 3720.
Hand signed by
Pennsylvania colonial officials Adam Grubb, H.J. Graham, and F. Johnston.
